Getting to Kythira by Ferry

You can arrive at the port of Kythira (Diakofti) via Piraeus, Gythio Lakonia, Kalamata (only during the summer months) and Kissamos on the ferry ‘Vitsentzos Kornaros” or via Neapolis, Lakonia with the ferry “Porfyrousa”. The port at Diakofti operates since 1996 and was built on the “Makrykythira” islet. The port serves every vessel that approaches it and provides all the necessary port services. It is important to know that port of Kythira does not offer public transport services, so it is advisable to have pre-booked a rental car, minibus or taxi that will take you to your destination.

Getting to Kythira by Ferry from the Peloponnese – Port of Neapoli, Lakonia

You can visit Kythira via the port of Neapolis with the ferry “Porfyrousa”. The ferry “Porfyrousa” carries out daily trips to Kythira that last 1 hour and 15 minutes and cost approximately €12 per person and €46 for a normal-sized car. You can arrive at the port of Neapolis either by car or by the Interstate Bus Service (KTEL) from Athens by crossing the Peloponnese and following the Korinth – Tripolis – Sparta – Molaous – Neapolis route (325km). Driving time is approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.

Getting to Kythira by Ferry from the Peloponnese – Port of Messinia, Kalamata

You can visit Kythira once a week and only during the summer (June-September) months from Kalamata, Messinia, by hopping onto the ferry “Vitsentzos Kornaros”, which takes 5 hours.  You can arrive at the port of Kalamata either by car or by the Interstate Bus Service (KTEL) from Athens by crossing the Peloponnese and following the Korinth – Tripolis – Megalopolis – Kalamata route (234km). Getting to Kythira by Ferry from Athens (Attica) – Port of Piraeus

You can visit Kythira from the port of Piraeus with the ferry “Vitsentzos Kornaros” twice (2) times a week. The trip takes 7.5 hours and costs approximately €25 per person and €75 for a normal-sized car. You can arrive at the port of Piraeus either by train (ISAP), or city buses or taxi/car. The ship departs from Gate E3 close to where the Cretan ships depart from.
